Drops, Imaging, & Audio Branding
Image is everything. It has nothing to do with water. Let’s polish you up!
As a DJ, your mix sets are tight and your programming is smooth. But if your fans don’t know who you are, it does you no good! All professional DJs have drops. Listen to Skribble, Clue, and Funkmaster Flex– you’ll realize it’s a great way to get your “brand” out there! When you hit your local dance spot, if the DJ’s on top of his game, he’ll let you know exactly who he is at some point with an ID over a break in the music! Or you might get his website over the mix …
This is a drop!
How about a drop to promote your dance night. Imagine having a sound bite to play a few times a night telling your fans that they’re “…in the middle of Hot & Sexy Saturdays at Club Metropolitan!” Radio stations use these all the time coming out of commercials to imprint the station’s call letters on the listener: “you’re commercial-free for the next hour, on WXYZ!” They call them “sweepers” and “bumpers”. Drops should be under 12 seconds in length to be effective; whether or not they have a bed (music or sound effects) depends on the intended use and your style.
These are also very useful for mobile DJs, which is an extremely competitive market! There is no better pool to draw for your next party than the one that’s in front of you right now! So take full advantage of a captive audience by letting them know who you are in a professional manner! It’s also a great way to segue between two songs that are very different in terms of BPM range or feel.
The latest trend for Mobile DJs? Custom drops for your clients!
This isn’t something that every DJ company is doing, so you’ll be sure to stand out. Imagine having a drop that lets everyone know that they’re “partying with Lisa and Tom” on their wedding day! This is especially hot when applied to Proms, Mitzvahs, and Sweet 16s! Remember, this market is huge on getting the spotlight– it’s about them! Whatever YOU can do to make THEM stand out is to your advantage!
Radio stations can now use DropHouse.com directly, too. That means a fresh feel to your liners, sweepers, and bumpers. Your station IDs don’t have to sound like the same old thing! We can spruce up your image with a fresh voice and production that’ll blow the amps away at your competition!
Perception is reality.
Drops are only one component of an imaging package; other voice-overs will hopefully help drive business and ultimately brand your company. For example, if you’re putting together a promotional mix or CD for your business, you should include an introduction and closer. Don’t ever miss an opportunity to drive potential clients to your website, let them know how to reach you, and inform them of special offers (You might want to consider professional Voice Messaging, too). The tone of these voice-overs, the scripting, and the production style will convey a feel that helps define “who you are”– your “brand.”
What do I get in the end?
Every piece of imaging gets handled with exceptional care by the time we’re done. That means whether Custom or Express, your production work get mastered to sound big and polished … and yes, LOUD! In the end, you get digital delivery in Hi-Resolution MP3 format, 320Kbps, 44.1Khz. That translates to a file that’s small enough to receive via email, yet clean enough for broadcast! Your files will also have complete MP3 tags, so if you’re a DJ using digital software, it doesn’t get any easier than “dragging-and-dropping” right into your virtual record crates. We also offer you the option of master files without compression– pristine, uncompressed digital audio for CD burning or archiving. We recommend it, in case the Gods of Binary decide to strike and corrupt your precious hard disk media.
You’re in good hands; here’s our sample, doctor.
Here are a few samples of the work we do. Take a peek, and take note of the production value and attention to detail.
(* These may be lower-res sample files; actual mastered files will sound much cleaner . You might wanna check your volume before clicking “Play”)
