Every year, thousands of entertainment professionals converge on the Atlantic City Boardwalk in New Jersey for the annual DJ Times Magazine DJ Expo. It’s a gathering of all levels of DJs, MCs, and entertainment business owners and professionals looking to share, learn, and raise their own game.
This year proved to be no exception. For 4 days, dozens of seminars and workshops were held by some of the most esteemed speakers from across the country. There were gear demonstrations, mixing workshops, celebrity panels, business development seminars, and even talks about the history of music (think Elvis, Beatles, Stones, and Disco!). Keynote presentations have featured some of the most well-known and influential industry leaders, including SCE Event Group’s own Jason Jani, Founder of SCE Event Group.
Yearly, one of the most anticipated and always heavily-attended workshops is Steve Moody’s panel on MCing: “All-Star MC Secrets Revealed.” This seminar brings together 5 or 6 Masters of Ceremonies from diverse backgrounds and gives them each a chance to impart some of their techniques and philosophies on bringing together a crowd. What an honor to have DropHouse Studio Voice-Over Artist, and SCE Event Host, Tony Tee Neto, asked to be part of this year’s All-Star panel!
To a packed room of over 400 colleagues, Tony started off his presentation by doing what they shouldn’t: yelling at their audience. Point taken! His recurring theme was “how to command a room.” Tee went on to share many techniques from the voice-over world, which he’s learned and practiced over many years as a Voice-Over Artist at his own DropHouse Studio. Couple that with his long career as a professional MC and DJ in a live setting, and you’ve got a lot of experience to take in!
He covered massive ground, from basic microphone placement and technique, to stretching and warming up before going on. He also took it beyond the basics as he cute questions to ask your boyfriend discussed tips on connecting with your audience from the first word, how obscurity is your friend when you’re starting out, branding your persona, and the voice-and-body-language connection!
Tony Tee Neto is well-known as “the voice of Webster Hall,” having voiced and produced the historic NYC Mega-Club’s radio ads for 8 straight years. He’s a music mixologist having played nightclubs across the Tri-State area and beyond, and producing his t2 Blender Mixshow on iTunes– all this while rocking incredible private events as a headlining Event Host for SCE Event Group.
We’re so proud to have been involved in this prestigious industry event!
